Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the New York A2 (GCL) Yankees2 home opener. Steve Murphy started for the home team against Leon Miller for the Houston (GCL) Astros. The Yankees2 were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 10-1, Houston (GCL). Dave Wright, though, was impressive.

It could have been a different outcome for Houston (GCL), had it not been for Ric Mason, the 21-year old right fielder . Mason contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Houston (GCL) up, 3-0.

"You score one run, you're not going to win," said New York A2 (GCL) skipper Jose Flores. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
