Rockies Get Hard-Earned Win
|
In a tight contest at Coors Field, the Colorado Rockies edged the Arizona Diamondbacks by the score of 5-4. Colorado right fielder Sergio Martínez, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Trevor Gott, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Rockies improved their record to 22-25 by beating Arizona.
Colorado took the lead, 5-4, on Arturo Hernández's 9th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Arizona pitcher Jody Davis in the bottom of the eighth.
"We were the better team," crowed Hernández.
