Franklin, Tigers Sink Firebirds Again in Game 2
The Detroit (GCL) Tigers moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Atlanta (GCL) Firebirds at Joker Marchant Stadium by a score of 14-5. Tigers catcher Kevin Franklin did some major damage. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The win gives the Tigers a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Round 1.

The Tigers took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Atlanta (GCL) hurler Joe Burton with one out, Franklin hit a 3-run home run.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Franklin said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 8th , 2023 at Champion Stadium.
