Guardians Bank 9-2 Win
|
Though he had a great game, José Parra could not single-handedly produce a win for Cincinnati. Cleveland won the game, 9-2. Parra went 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. The Guardians now have a record of 22-25 with the win over Cincinnati.
Tyrone Taylor had a big bases-clearing double for the Guardians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cleveland leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Chris Sale, who finished 3rd in the AL in strikeouts with 226 in 2013, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Guardians ahead, 5-1.
Said losing manager Kevin Cash: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
