Phillies Win at Boston, 6-4
|
Boston got a decent performance from pitcher Tony Nava, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia won the Fenway Park contest, 6-4. Nava threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Philadelphia pitcher Dan Chase earned the win, hiking his record to 3-0. Doug Bergeron suffered the loss. Alex Claudio locked down his 12th save.
Philadelphia used a timely hit from Wes Bowers to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Phillies ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Bowers told the Philadelphia Citizen.
The Philadelphia win streak is now 3 games.
