Round 1 Goes the Distance, Connecticut Prevails
Depending on your loyalties, the Round 1 was either thrilling or heartbreaking.

The series went down to its final game, with the Connecticut Tigers and the Lowell Spinners giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Tigers came out on top, winning 16-2 at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium today to take the series 3-2.

"We're lucky to be going into the Round 2," said Connecticut pitcher Tony Boggs. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."

Boggs earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .444 average, with 4 home runs, 6 RBI and 7 runs scored.

The Connecticut Tigers will play against the Williamsport Crosscutters in the next round. Williamsport won their series against the Brooklyn Cyclones 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
