Astros Drop 4-3 Decision to Twins
|
The Elizabethton Twins topped the Greeneville Astros, 4-3, in Appalachian League action at Joe O'Brien Field. The standout performance belonged to Elizabethton pitcher and Lindenhurst, Illinois, native Tim Edwards. The winning pitcher was Edwards, now 4-3. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 10. Sal Coffman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 19 save opportunities.
T.J. Martínez had a big run-scoring double for the Twins in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Elizabethton leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Chris McElhaney and swatted a double to left. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 4-0.
"We put together a nice win," Martínez said.
The win puts Elizabethton at 34-32 this season.
