In a low-scoring contest between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Houston Astros, 35-year old right-handed pitcher Kurt Heyer proved to be the difference. The St. Louis right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Cardinals win. Carlos A. Salazar recorded the save, his 7th. The 4th-place Cardinals lifted their record to 19-24.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Amerigo Maria Lamb to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cardinals on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

St. Louis manager Aaron Thompson praised his team's "businesslike approach."
