Blue Jays Prevail, 2-1, Over Danville
The Bluefield Blue Jays eked out a 2-1 win versus the Danville Firebirds at American Legion Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Joe Stroud. He was terrific. Stroud picked up the win for Bluefield, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-6. Dan West earned the save, his 1st, for the Blue Jays.

Cliff Watkins had a productive trip to the plate with two out in the top of the sixth inning. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single, helping Bluefield to the win.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Danville skipper Desmond Jennings, "and it cost us."

Despite the win, the Blue Jays have a lousy 17-42 record.
