The Danville Firebirds got a superb performance from pitcher Ron Conrad, but the Elizabethton Twins still won the game, 4-2. Conrad threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Brendan Cummings snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-1 on the season. After today's action, Elizabethton sits at 28-29; Danville slips to 29-28.
Elizabethton used a timely hit from Manny Ramírez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Twins ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We took home the win," said Ramírez. "What's not to like?"
