Pirates Lose at Home, 1-0, to Kingsport
|
The Kingsport Mets, despite a fine performance by Bristol pitcher Randy Dasher, grabbed a 1-0 win at Devault Memorial Stadium. Dasher allowed 1 run over 9 innings. The winning pitcher was Raúl Lópes. He's now 3-3. He went 5.1 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits for the Mets. Steve Perkins recorded the save, his 3rd.
Kingsport used the hitting of Mitch McLaughlin to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets on top, 1-0. For the game, McLaughlin had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said McLaughlin. "Mission accomplished."
Bristol is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 9 in a row.
