The bats were silent much of the day at Bowen Field. But Mike Fleming conjured up just enough offense to carry the Blue Jays past the Pulaski Yankees, 3-2. Fleming went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Bob Davis. He's now 2-6. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits for the Blue Jays. The win has Bluefield at 12-36.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the sixth when Fleming, who is tied for 7th in the APP in bases on balls with 22, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Blue Jays into the lead, 3-2.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Fleming said in reaction to the win.
