|
Kingsport Mets starter Dave King was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Bluefield Blue Jays, 4-1. King, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 8, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Raúl Lópes was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Ed Thompson had a productive at-bat for the Mets with two out in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, the first baseman hit a run-scoring triple. The at-bat was important in the Kingsport win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Mets manager Scott Hairston, "I like our chances."
The Blue Jays, now 7-27, have lost 5 straight.
