Thanks in large part to first baseman Steve Hunt, the Kingsport Mets beat the Princeton Rays, 12-7. Hunt was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Ron Givens earned save number 1. Kingsport is now 19-11, while Princeton is 17-13.

Kingsport second baseman Dan Martínez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 4th hit of the season and put the Mets ahead, 4-1.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Mets manager Luis Avilan. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
