Blue Jays Pin 6-1 Loss on Princeton

The Bluefield Blue Jays rode a solid performance from 19-year-old starting pitcher Ernesto González to a win, beating the Princeton Rays, 6-1, at Bowen Field. González, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 11 and giving up 2 walks. Dan West picked up the save, his 4th.
Jerry Vance, who is tied for 7th in the APP in bases on balls with 20, aided the Bluefield cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Vance, "one at-bat at a time."
The triumph puts Bluefield at 13-13 for the season.
