Twins Nose Past Greeneville, 6-5
|
The Elizabethton Twins downed the Greeneville Astros, 6-5, at Joe O'Brien Field. The Twins were led by Juan Marín. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Elizabethton reliever Chris Dorsey picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jerry Stevenson was tagged with the loss. Alvin Long earned save number 2 this season.
Elizabethton took a 6-5 lead on Marín's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Jerry Stevenson in the bottom of the eighth, propelled Elizabethton to the win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Elizabethton manager Angel Pagan.
With the win, Elizabethton pushed its record to 10-9.
