Chet Bass was outstanding against Greeneville. The right-hander had a slider that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Mets 3-2 win. Now 4-9, the Astros have gotten off to a poor start.
Kevin Hernández had a big 3-run home run for the Mets in the bottom of the third inning. With Kingsport trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Daryl Bailey and swatted a home run to left. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mets ahead, 3-1.
In postgame comments, Bass told the Kingsport Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
