Volcanoes Get One-Run Win at Eugene
|
Salem-Keizer beat Eugene on the strength of starter José Rocha's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Rocha picked up the win for Salem-Keizer, going 6 innings. He gave up no runs on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 4-2. Walt Hutchinson, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Luis Lozano, the 20-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Lozano contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Salem-Keizer up, 2-0.
"We were in it," said Eugene manager Mike Benjamin. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The first-place Volcanoes now have a win-loss record of 40-30.
