Rivera Helps Eugene Cruise to 11-3 Win
The Eugene Emeralds saddled the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes with a loss at Volcanoes Stadium. The final score was 11-3. José Rivera was 3 for 5, including 2 singles and 1 home run. The Eugene designated hitter scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Terrence Brewer earned the win to go to 3-6. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings of work. Chris Chamberlain locked down his 1st save.

Walt Johnson had a big 2-run double for the Emeralds in the top of the third inning. With Eugene leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Mario Oliva, who is tied for 4th in the NWL in saves with 6, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Emeralds ahead, 3-0.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Salem-Keizer skipper Jemel Spearman.

With the win, Eugene pushed its record to 32-25.
