The Eugene Emeralds and Boise Hawks riveted fans at Memorial Stadium.

The Eugene Emeralds got a sterling performance from pitcher Rinaldo Saro, but the Boise Hawks still prevailed, 4-1. Saro threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 runs. Jorge Alvarado earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.

Had Tony Parker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Parker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hawks.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Eugene skipper Mike Benjamin, "and it cost us."

The Hawks sport a record of 21-34.
