Due in part to right fielder Luis Herta, the Atlanta Hammers chopped down the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-3, in 10 innings. Herta was 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. Joe Byrd got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. Atlanta is 18-22 and Los Angeles, with the loss, 30-9.

Jim Bowers provided a timely hit. The Atlanta second baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Hammers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

Bowers attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
