Late Rally by Yankees Secures 9-7 Win
|
Spirited fans greeted the Kingsport Mets for their clash with the Pulaski Yankees.
The Pulaski Yankees downed the Kingsport Mets, 9-7, at Hunter Wright Stadium. The Yankees were led by Héctor Miranda. He was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Ron Craig earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Joe Ward closed the door for Pulaski, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Pulaski used the timely hitting of Pat Phillips to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yankees on top, 9-7. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We came out aggressive," said Yankees manager Shin-Soo Choo. "We came out swinging the bats."
Kingsport drops to 3-1.
