West Virginia Wins, 9-5, in Extra Innings
The West Virginia Black Bears beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 9-5, at Russell Diethrick Park. Jorge Tavárez was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. The 23-year old center fielder was a menace to Williamsport all day. At 36-36, the Black Bears claim second place in the Pinckney Division.

West Virginia won the game in the bottom of the 13th inning. With one out and Daron Pittman on the mound for Williamsport, designated hitter Gary Mullett hit a dramatic grand slam home run, bringing Black Bears fans to their feet.

"That was intense," said Mullett.
