Connecticut Beats Aberdeen, 5-2
|
José Cervantes was outstanding against Aberdeen. The left-hander had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Tigers 5-2 win. Cervantes, the winner, moves to 5-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. Andy Lewis, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Oliver Matos? The Connecticut designated hitter had a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Tigers on top, 3-0. For the game, Matos had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Matos told the Connecticut Observer.
Connecticut has now won 4 games in a row.
