The Chicago White Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Alec Asher, but the Miami Marlins still won the game, 4-3. Asher threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The White Sox, now 17-23, have lost 7 in a row.
Miami used a timely hit from Kurt Newton to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marlins ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Newton attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
