Renegades Drop Contest, 5-2, to Aberdeen
|
Bob Bedser, who is tied for 7th in the NYP with a 9.4 K/9 rate, was locked in. The right-hander led the Aberdeen Ironbirds to a 5-2 win against the Hudson Valley Renegades at Dutchess Stadium. The winning pitcher was Bedser, now 3-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Etelson Peltier was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 16 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Aberdeen, had it not been for Steve Stone, the 24-year old third baseman . Stone contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Aberdeen up, 2-0.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Stone told the Aberdeen Chronicle.
The win hiked the Aberdeen record to 33-33.
