Mahoning Valley starter Mike Tyler put the Brooklyn offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his curveball in leading the Scrappers to a 5-1 win. Tyler, who is tied for 2nd in the NYP in wins with 6, went the distance for Mahoning Valley. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. The Scrappers bumped their record to 33-33 with this win.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Sean Hartman? The Mahoning Valley center fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Scrappers on top, 3-1. For the game, Hartman had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
