Spikes Stop Cyclones, 5-3
|
The State College Spikes knocked off the Brooklyn Cyclones, 5-3, at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Jim Robinson was a big reason State College won. The center fielder was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Dan Eaton, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits. Sergio Manuel recorded the save, his 8th.
A critical at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Spikes sent 22-year-old third baseman Jeremy Lara to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put State College on top, 5-3.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Lara said.
State College has 3 straight wins, Brooklyn 3 straight losses.
