Black Bears Collect 5-3 Win Over Cyclones
|
West Virginia Black Bears starter Juan Villanueva was in fine form against the Brooklyn Cyclones at MCU Park, leading his team to a win, 5-3. Alex Samuels, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Jeremiah Wheeler got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
The Black Bears got an important contribution from first baseman Ernesto García, who in the top of the tenth hit a fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Black Bears ahead, 5-3.
"There's no quit in this team," said Black Bears manager Edwin Moreno.
With the victory, the Black Bears record now stands at 30-28.
