Black Bears Fall Short, 2-1, at Brooklyn
|
In a tight affair between the Brooklyn Cyclones and the West Virginia Black Bears, pitcher Joe Collins was in the zone. The Brooklyn right-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Collins, now 2-0. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Getting the save was Jarrod Wilson, his 13th.
Brad Oglethorpe went 1 for 3 with a walk for Brooklyn. The 25-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Marc O'Dooley. It was his 9th walk of the season.
"Tough win," said Oglethorpe. "We had to earn it."
The McNamara Division-leading Cyclones are 36-20.
