Phipps Homers Twice in 15-5 Yankees Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Hudson Valley Renegades and Staten Island Yankees get after it.

Joe Phipps made an impact in the 15-5 Staten Island win over Hudson Valley. Phipps slugged 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The win was credited to 21-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Aguilar in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Jeff Stephens took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Kevin Pitts came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Hudson Valley pitcher Jeff Stephens, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Staten Island on top, 6-5.

"It's always fun to score a lot of runs," said Phipps.

The last-place Yankees go to 23-32.
