The inspired effort of Hudson Valley third baseman Brit Hicks was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Connecticut Tigers. Hicks went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Yasunobu Hayagawa finished to wrap up his 15th save. The Stedler Division-leading Tigers have a record of 35-17.

Connecticut used a timely hit from Jesús Montoya to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Tigers ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Montoya told the Connecticut Observer.
