Andy Reeves could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his State College Spikes lost, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Auburn Doubledays at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Aurelio Flores earned save number 11 this season. The Doubledays, now 17-24, know that wins in July count the same as wins in September.

The Doubledays got an important contribution from third baseman Jim Edwards, who in the top of the third hit a fastball into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Doubledays ahead, 3-1.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Edwards.
