Though he had a terrific game, César Paredes could not prevent his team, the Auburn Doubledays, from absorbing a loss. Aberdeen won the game, 3-2. Paredes was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Key. He tossed 89 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Aberdeen now sits at 24-19, while Auburn falls to 21-22.
Christian Nygård had a big solo home run for the Ironbirds in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Aberdeen leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 20-year old right-handed pitcher Myron McCain and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Ironbirds on top, 3-1.
"Winning is contagious," said Nygård. "We're looking forward to the next game."
