Extra-Inning Win by Tigers Over Yankees
The Connecticut Tigers took Staten Island pitcher Greg Yarber's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. The final score had Connecticut getting past the Yankees, 4-3. Yarber went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 5. Connecticut pitcher Andy Lewis got the win. He's now 2-1. Robinson Salas was tagged with the loss. The win for the Tigers lifted their record to 26-14.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the 11th inning. That's when shortstop Jesús Sánchez stepped to the plate with runners on 2nd and 3rd and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.

"Games like this one keep the antacid makers in business," quipped Staten Island manager David Ortiz.
