|
Batavia beat Auburn on the strength of starter Merlin Mullins's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. The winner was Tony López in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Dan Bernard took the loss. The Muckdogs move to 18-22 with the win, while the Doubledays drop to 16-24.
Batavia used the timely hitting of Huang-fu Chang to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Muckdogs on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Takanobu Sato.
