The Auburn Doubledays did just enough to sneak past the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 4-3, at Ripken Stadium. Auburn pitcher Bob Johnson, in particular, had a standout performance. The last-place Doubledays have won 4 in a row.

Auburn needed the clutch hitting of Álex Rodríguez to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Doubledays on top, 4-3. For the game, Rodríguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

After the game, Auburn manager Takanobu Sato applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
