The Staten Island Yankees beat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 6-5, at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Staten Island center fielder Dave MacNamara had an outstanding performance. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. The winner was Staten Island reliever Sean Luce, now 1-0. The loser was Wilson Cuevas. Picking up his 2nd save was 21-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Aguilar.
Had MacNamara not come through in the bottom of the eighth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, MacNamara hit a run-scoring single. The Yankees took the lead, 6-5, and never looked back.
"You can never predict what'll happen," MacNamara said. "That's why you play the game."
Staten Island is 13-19 and Williamsport, with the loss, 13-19.
