Ironbirds Suffer 3-1 Setback
The Auburn Doubledays had to overcome a good performance from Aberdeen pitcher Luis Hernández to claim a 3-1 win at Ripken Stadium. Hernández went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Ed Malone came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. The Doubledays raised their record to 12-20.

Phil Hancock aided the Auburn cause with a 2-run triple in the top of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 2 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Auburn manager Takanobu Sato. "It's usually not just one thing."
