The Minnesota Twins faced a tough opponent in Washington pitcher Kirk Griffith, but still scratched out a win at Nationals Park by a final score of 4-2 in 10 innings. Griffith went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. Minnesota pitcher Bobby Bass got the win, upping his record to 3-0. Dominic Bingham got the loss. Picking up the save was Jorge Fajardo, his 12th.

Minnesota used the timely hitting of Yasiel Puig to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Twins on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Puig. "But we got it done."

With this game in the books, Minnesota is 23-15, Washington 24-14.
