Castro Delivers Walk-Off Win for Ironbirds
|
The Aberdeen Ironbirds and West Virginia Black Bears had fans on the edges of their seats.
Led by Jim O'Reilly, the Aberdeen Ironbirds downed the West Virginia Black Bears, 6-5. O'Reilly was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Ironbirds. With this game in the books, Aberdeen is 17-15, West Virginia 8-24.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Aberdeen center fielder Tony Castro, facing Joe Raymond, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Ironbirds the 6-5 win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Castro. "You've got to get results."
