Scrappers Fall Short, 3-2, at Lowell
|
In a tight tilt between the Lowell Spinners and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Dan Bennett was the deciding factor. The Lowell left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. In 5.1 innings, Bennett surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Tim Lewis picked up the save, his 4th.
Ron Lindsey, who is tied for 3rd in the NYP in extra base hits with 18, chipped in a solo home run for Lowell in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.
"Dan had good arm action, good stuff," said Lowell manager Tony Castillo.
Lowell is now 14-16, Mahoning Valley 13-17.
