Lake Monsters Win Thriller, 2-1
The Vermont Lake Monsters eked out a 2-1 win versus the West Virginia Black Bears at Centennial Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Sam David. He was terrific. David went the distance for Vermont. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The win boosted Vermont to 14-13.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Vermont trailing 1-0, Pepe Herrera jumped on a first pitch fastball from Bruno Dennis for a 2-run home run, sending the Lake Monsters to a walk-off win.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Herrera said.
