Vermont third baseman Chet Smith had a good game, even if his team did not. The Lake Monsters dropped a 5-3 decision to Auburn at Falcon Park. Smith went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. Auburn has now won 3 straight, while the Lake Monsters have lost 3 in a row.

Auburn took a 4-3 lead on Gilberto Cardenas's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Cardenas hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Vermont pitcher Lonnie Pitt visibly frustrated.

Cardenas told a Auburn Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
