Multi-HR Game for Pérez in 16-14 Win
Luis Pérez was the difference-maker for the Aberdeen Ironbirds in what turned into a shootout with the Staten Island Yankees. Pérez went 2-for-4 in the 16-14 Ironbirds win. Jesús Muñóz earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The triumph puts Aberdeen at 14-9 for the season.

Aberdeen needed the clutch hitting of Jimmy Koch to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ironbirds on top, 15-11. For the game, Koch had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Koch expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
