The Mahoning Valley Scrappers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dan Knight into a win. Instead, the Auburn Doubledays prevailed, 6-5. Knight threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Auburn reliever Ted Ervin picked up the win, while Kevin Dudley took the loss for Mahoning Valley. The Auburn winning streak has reached 5 games.

Auburn used a timely hit from Chris Spence to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Doubledays ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"We ground out the win," said Spence. "That's all that matters."
