Scrappers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Tri-City, 6-4
Getting a good performance from catcher Jake Meredith, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats, 6-4. Meredith was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Scrappers. Mahoning Valley reliever Steve Cox got the win, raising his record to 1-3. Chris McElhaney was tagged with the loss. Mahoning Valley is now 9-10, Tri-City 12-7.

Mahoning Valley used a timely hit from Luis Jiménez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scrappers ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

In postgame comments to the Mahoning Valley Daily News, Jiménez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
