The Mahoning Valley Scrappers picked up a win at Eastwood Field, taking down the Auburn Doubledays, 5-4. Starting pitcher Jesús Martínez was a big reason why. Martínez, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 5, and allowing 4 runs. The Doubledays fall to 5-7 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Rob Evans helped out the Mahoning Valley cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 5, while scoring 2 runs.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Evans told the Mahoning Valley Herald.
