In a high-scoring contest between Staten Island and Vermont, third baseman Juan Palácios was a difference-maker. Palácios distinguished himself in the 9-8 Staten Island win. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2. The defeat makes Vermont 5-6.

The knockout blow came in the bottom of the 12th inning. That's when center fielder Jonah Brown stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and hit a run-scoring single, to win the ballgame.

"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Brown told the Staten Island Times.
