Auburn starter Don Cash pitched effectively against the Connecticut Tigers at Falcon Park. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-1. Cash, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks. Connecticut falls to 6-4.

The Doubledays took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Jim Gordon banged a two-out single. Auburn had been trailing 1-0, but Gordon hit a 0-1 fastball from Junior Taylor for a 2-run single.

"We'll try to build on that win," Cash told the Auburn News.
