Ripken Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Aberdeen Ironbirds and Williamsport Crosscutters.
The Aberdeen Ironbirds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Tony Martínez into a win. Instead, the Williamsport Crosscutters prevailed, 4-2. Martínez threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Aberdeen falls to 4-2.
Williamsport used a timely hit from José Rivera to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Crosscutters ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Glad to get this win," said Rivera. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
